What Happens at the Lake is a fun and charming romance that revolves around the unlikely pairing of the broody Fox (he is a sexy & sweet Paul Bunyan) and Josi (his quirky new neighbor who befriends a duck named Daisy).
Their chemistry is undeniable but they both have a bit of baggage😢 But you know Vi can create an enjoyable and heartwarming story for any couple😍.
With its humor, romance, and nostalgia, What Happens at the Lake will leave you with a with a smile. Perfect way to start the new year🤩
I held it together until the last minute of the book!! Then Vi & Penelope got me!! Here I am hiccup crying & laughing at myself…because y’all the bond between Salyor & Billie is perfect! They are everything the other was missing🥲
I absolutely loved this book! Colby and his friends are such good guys. The way they look out for each other is so awesome…even though Holden does have to make sacrifices 🤣🤣 Speaking of I can not wait for his story!!
I loved Holden’s speech about yin & yang it is perfect for Billie & Colby from the way they met, to their updating. Everything was the opposite of traditional but do perfect for them. ☯️
💕fave quotes📝 “Prove me wrong, then, and come. I’m not asking you on a date this time. We can be friends, can’t we?” She bit her lip. “Fine. Yes, we can be friends.” “Great.” I winked. “But just to clarify, I sometimes look at my friends’ asses.”
“You’re welcome, sweetheart. I’m glad everything worked out and you guys are going to give dating a shot.” I shook my head. “Oh, we’re not dating. We’re doing something he calls undating—kind of spending time with each other without the pressures of dating. But we’re not going to see other people while we do that.” Deek bent his head back in laughter. “What’s so funny?” “The fact that you’re dating this dude and don’t even know it.”🤪
“Who am I to you, Saylor?” “You’re Billie!” “I know, but besides my name. Who do you think I am?” She bounced a couple of times. “You’re the girl my daddy loves. You’re his Princess Jasmine!”💕💕💕
I do believe Max is my new favorite guy. How can he not be adored?? He’s hot, has mesmerizing dimples, loves Star Wars, super sweet and he listens to Georgia-like hears & appreciates what she says❤️ He encourages her and doesn’t try to stifle her. And he knows from the beginning that she has his heart & doesn’t need an open relationship to figure it out😑
He’s the best blind date crasher ever💕 And bonus he an all around good guy. His friendship with Otto is so freaking heartwarming🙂
Fave quotes: ‘If you’re not living life the way you want, you’re dying anyway.’”—-🥲❤️
“Humor a dying old man and let me give you some advice.” “What’s that?” “Whatever you think is so complicated, isn’t. Don’t wait until you’re seventy and sick to figure out that life is pretty simple. Be with the people you love, and your life will feel full in the end, whenever that time may come.” —love the friendship & advice between Max & Otto
Dynamic Duo has done it again! I’m in love with the hot cruncle (crappy uncle).
Levi is dubbed the cruncle by his nephew Alex after arriving at their inherited bed & breakfast in a bad mood. It didn’t take long for Levi to lose the bad attitude. He & Presley build a strong relationship organically. He falls in love with Presley & Alex…only problem his brother Tanner decides that he wants his family back and moves to Beaufort.
Ugh the emotions were strong in this book. They are truly in a lose lose situation and Levi makes his choice thinking he is doing what’s best for everyone…
Fave quotes: ‘Never forget the comfort of just sitting under an oak tree and watching that amazing southern sunset. Never forget the taste of sweet tea made right. And down-home cooking—if you don’t find someone who can make it like Mamaw, make it your damn self! (Or learn if you still don’t know how.) And if for some reason you’re reading this and missing home, maybe it’s damn well time you went back.’—-the entire letter from Presley’s mamaw was beautiful but I love this the most💕
‘If you’re not scared about losing something, it’s not worth your time.’—love Levi’s grandfather’s saying! These words speak volumes.
